This is a delightful little cachaça from Minas. The first time I’ve ever had cachaça aged in Jatoba. The nose seemed familiar to me. At first, it reminded me of Amburana. But there was a powerful vegetable smell. Then came a bit of spice, which made me change my mind a bit.
It’s a pretty light yellow, which clings to the glass nicely. The palate is pleasant, lightly tingly, and not overwhelming. The taste of spice comes through clearly.
But the best part of this cachaça is the sub name, which translates to: For this, I will take off my hat. Pretty good stuff. I think this would appeal to many people, although the strong vegetal smell might initially turn some off, I think if you get past that, you’ll find something unusual and tasty. Very much worth the experimentation.
